Kim Storfer
Kim
has worked twenty-five plus years in the healthcare industry. Kim’s experience covers much of the healthcare continuum, including hospital, provider office, department of health, regional health information exchange, vendor, dental and academic settings. Most recently, Kim worked as the Director of Implementations at 4medica, where she managed all Master Patient Index (MPI) Integrations, data management activities and data quality initiatives. She also managed the Integration Team for ADT, Lab, and Radiology Interfaces. She also worked on strategic planning for MPI related services. Kim spent more than 8 years at HEALTHeLINK, the Health Information Exchange (HIE) in Buffalo, NY specializing in data management, and healthcare interoperability, as Senior Manager of Interface Support Services.
In her role at HEALTHeLINK, an HIE which serves the eight counties of Western New York with over 4500 providers connected, 500 hospitals/health systems/provider practices sending clinical data and more than 90% of all WNY patients consented, Kim was responsible for all data integration and management, including data source onboarding. In addition, she has managed EMPI data integrity, developed data source implementation and documentation processes, and has managed key components of a major platform migration. Kim is widely regarded as the subject matter expert for other team members in the areas of Interfaces, Data Management and Data Quality, as well as HIPAA compliance.
Kim’s leadership and accomplishments are numerous. She served on the board of HUG (the HIE User Group) for 7 years; 5 years as Chair. HUG was the catalyst of what is now known as SHIEC, who works to establish and communicate HIE best practices, coordinating on healthcare data standards and facilitating technology vendor communication and feedback. She is extremely passionate about data standards and ensuring that healthcare data is a valuable tool for improving patients’ health outcomes.
Kim worked as the Program Director/Developer for a Healthcare Informatics Program at Trocaire College, in Buffalo. While at Trocaire, she performed a feasibility study of college wide EMR/Clinical system integration.
Kim has a Master of Healthcare Administration and Informatics and received her Bachelor of Science in Management from Houghton College. Kim is also a licensed Dental Hygienist, and a HIPAA Certified Professional.
Kim is married with two children, a daughter Hillary and a son Colton. She has a passion for shopping, shoes, The Buffalo Bills; and watching her son play lacrosse and hockey.
